Venues replicate the TV show's sets
All Holland America ships, apart from Maasdam, feature America’s Test Kitchen venues that replicate the set where the prominent 'America’s Test Kitchen' television shows are recorded for broadcast on public television stations across the US. The on-board cooking shows on every cruise are hosted by HAL chefs trained by America’s Test Kitchen culinary experts and, like the TV shows, combine thoroughly tested recipes with practical tips on everything from how to select fresh fruits and vegetables to how to use kitchen knives safely and efficiently.
The new shows include 'Sweet and Fruity Desserts,' focusing on apples and raspberries; 'Dinner Classics for Two' with dishes like chicken marsala, rice pilaf and warm chocolate fudge cake; and 'Mediterranean Medley,' an easy weeknight meal including restaurant-style hummus and lamb meatballs with couscous and yogurt sauce.
'Serious Tacos' will feature shredded chicken tacos braised in a deeply flavored sauce and crispy shrimp tacos, while 'Make Your Own Takeout' teaches takeout favorites like pad thai and scallion pancakes.
