Around 50 delegates gathered recently for a cruise business seminar in Southampton led by the city council.

The seminar was dedicated to bolstering the UK cruise shore excursion offering by developing local marketable products enabled businesses working with the cruise industry to learn more about best practise when it comes to packaging their product.

It also opened up opportunities for attendees to network and explore how to work in collaboration with other business partners to build an experience.

Kay Greenway, director of Cruise Britain delivered a presentation summarising the global cruise industry with key highlights including a significant 62% increase in the demand for cruising from 2005 – 2015.

Greenway also highlighted Southampton’s scope for growth potential with calls increasing from 250 to 500 in the last ten years making it North Europe's biggest turnaround port.

Laura Campbell, project manager, Leisure Excursions for Cruise and Conference comments: ‘This event was entirely tailored towards supporting cruise excursion companies to find products that match their requirements and enable them to build a marketable excursion itinerary. We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the positive response that the event received and we are looking forward to organising more of these events in the coming months.'
