Marine interior specialists Trimline has expanded its refurbishment portfolio with Thomson Cruises by completing an extensive make-over of 126 cabins on Thomson Celebration.

Paul Gauguin Cruises released renderings showing what the company described as a chic new look for the 90-passenger Tere Moana, with Polynesian touches. The former Le Levant will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation in November prior to its inaugural sailing for Paul Gauguin on Dec. 29.

Costa rebuts report of black box, watertight doors malfunctions

Costa Crociere issued a blunt rebuttal of Italian media claims that the voice data recorder (VDR) aboard Costa Concordia had failed several days before the tragic accident off the island of Giglio on Jan. 13 and had not been repaired at the time of the incident.

Costa Concordia’s captain was freed from house arrest by an Italian judge on Thursday but remains in detention, Reuters and the Associated Press report from Rome.

Fincantieri wins steelwork contract that's key to Concordia removal

Italian state-owned shipbuilder Fincantieri said it had been awarded a contract to build 30 watertight steel boxes that will be used to right and refloat the hulk of the stricken cruise ship Costa Concordia.

Voyager, the 540-passenger ship joining the Voyages of Discovery fleet in December, will undertake its final refurbishments in Portland Port in the UK this winter. 

Almost six months on from the Concordia disaster and with a new chief executive set to arrive next week in the shape of former AIDA Cruises president Michael Thamm, Costa Crociere is beginning to emerge from the giant shadow cast over the company, according to company president Gianni Onorato.
